Enhancing Capacity to make a greater difference
ENCorpsIndia
Pilot Program
We are in the process of doing a series of pilot projects in India in 2008. The purpose is to gain hands-on experience in
working with the NGOs: the dynamics of engaging with them on short-term projects, understanding the potential challenges,
developing methods to measure the value we can bring, and, generally to prove out the ENCorps concept.
We are in the process of finalizing some pilot projects and have needs for volunteers with background in the following areas:
- For a livelihood (Dairy) focused NGO based in Delhi, the pilot will help them develop induction and ongoing training
modules to train staff and volunteers.
- For an advocacy organization, based in Bangalore, projects to develop a knowledge management capability and
performance management capability.
- For an educational organization focusing on children's education, based in Andhra Pradesh, a project to develop a
curriculum and to put in place the basics for running the school.
- Vocational teachers who can volunteer for a month are also needed for the same organization.
- For organization based in Andhra Pradesh, developing a marketing capability for Women's products - weaver
communities in and around Kadapa to train them in tailoring, embroidery and other skills. These women make
wonderful products ranging from home furnishings to fashion wear.
Above list is a sampling of the pilot projects we are planning. We are also in continuing discussions with NGOs to identify
additional projects.
